Furniture transport tips in Madrid
Moving a piece of furniture across Madrid has its tricks: between narrow streets, the low-emission zone, tight lifts and traffic, the difference between a clean move and a damaged one is in the prep. These tips help it arrive whole and surprise-free.
Protect before you load
Most damage doesn't come from the big knock but from the constant rubbing along the way. Wrap delicate surfaces with moving blankets and secure them with film; protect corners and legs, which is where wood chips.
Disassemble what you can —table legs, headboards, shelves— and keep the screws in a bag taped to the piece itself. The flatter and more compact it travels, the less it moves and the less space it takes.
Load and secure sensibly
Place the heaviest, flattest items against the van wall and towards the floor; put light and fragile things on top. Carry glass and mirrors on edge, never flat. Use the straps and anchor points so nothing shifts when braking.
Leave no gaps: a loose item that moves on every bend ends up rubbing against everything. Fill the space with blankets or boxes so the load stays firm.

Should I move it myself or use a driver-led transport?
