Reserve a spot for the van
First things first: try to leave a space free in front of the entrance for moving day. A private car parked the night before to “hold the spot” helps, and giving the neighbours a heads-up avoids surprises. Every extra metre between the van and the entrance is time (and effort) that adds up.
A reserved-bay permit
For big moves or awkward streets, Madrid City Council lets you apply for a temporary reserved parking bay with signage. It’s requested in advance and is the surest way to guarantee the space. If you need it, we’ll point you in the right direction for arranging it by area.
The Low Emission Zone (LEZ)
Madrid has traffic restrictions by environmental sticker in several central areas. For a move this matters for two reasons:
- The vehicle coming in to load or unload must meet the zone’s rules.
- Loading bays have set hours and time limits.
Our fleet and the way we work are set up to move around Madrid without trouble. If your origin or destination is right in the centre, mention it when asking for a quote and we’ll plan for it.
Before D-day: check the width of the street, whether there’s a driveway or bus lane at the door, and the zone’s loading hours. Five minutes of checking saves an hour on moving day.
Entrances, lifts and stairs
Measure the lift and doors if you have big furniture. When something won’t fit in the lift, it goes up the stairs (more time) or a furniture hoist is considered. Knowing beforehand avoids surprises and makes for a more accurate quote.
